STEP-FATHER RAPES FIVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL

There is an alarming report coming out of San Pedro Town, today. A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped at the hands of her step-father who is in custody and has been charged with rape of a child. He is a thirty-one-year-old Salvadoran National. The child’s mother visited the San Pedro Police Station on Tuesday morning to report the disturbing incident. The woman told police that on Monday night sometime between eight-thirty and eight-forty-five she left the baby sleeping in the house and went out to buy food. But when she returned home, the child approached her crying and told her that her step-father had hurt her. That is what the police have issued so far. But information alleges that when the woman returned home she found her common-law-husband naked and under the influence of alcohol. The five-year-old girl was crying and her mother discovered blood on her clothing. The following day, the incident was reported to police. Authorities say that a medical exam was conducted on the child and the medical officer confirmed that the child was carnally known. This year there have been at least three other cases of sexual attacks on young children in Belize. Back in March of this year, seventeen-month-old baby Allyssa Nunez was reportedly sexually and physically abused by her step-father. She died shortly after she was hospitalized. That same month, a four-year-old and eleven-year-old were raped in Bella Vista; while a seven-year-old was raped in Corozal.
