O.W. policeman stabbed by brotherly duo
Too often, the media is forced to expose cases of police brutality, but tonight two brothers who viciously attacked an officer in Orange Walk are in police custody. According to reports, around 7:00 Friday night, P.C. Reynaldo Bruhier was on duty at the San Estevan police station when two men, armed with machetes and knives, burst into the building threatening to start a fire. The men, now identified as Herson and Erbin Guerra then got into a fight with Officer Bruhier and in the scuffle, Bruhier was stabbed twice in his back and in his left hand. With the officer lying bleeding on the floor, his attackers then stole the gun from his holster and ran away. The policeman was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. An intensive search by police found the Guerras in San Estevan Village today. While the motive for this crime has yet to be released by police, News 5 understands that the attack may be the result of police visiting the family after residents of the village had made a complaint about the brotherly duo.
