C.A. Nationals cleared to enter Belize at Western Border

There are more details tonight on a number of persons who were held at the western border on Thursday for hours. About two hundred Guatemalan nationals arrived at the border in buses and were initially not allowed entry by immigration officials. Subsequently, the officials were able to verify that the group had travelled here for a religious convention and had received prior authorization. With that out of the way, the group was cleared and proceeded to cross the border. That visit coincides with a caravan of thousands of Honduran nationals making their way to the United States. That group travelled via Guatemala and has reached the Mexican border. The migrant caravan has advanced to the border town of Tecún Umán, though some in the group have already broken through barriers on the Guatemalan side of the border.  The U.S. has described the immigration issue as a moment of crisis.
