Fire in Patchakan Destroys 5 Bedroom Home, Arson is Suspected
Corozal police are also investigating what appears to be a case of arson in Patchakan, where a five bedroom structure went up in flames on Monday night. According to ACP Joseph Myvett, indications are that the intruder entered the vacant building, rummaged through it and then set it on fire.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police responded to an information of a fire on Monday, October twenty-second, sometime around nine p.m., whereupon arrival at the Matura’s residence a five-bedroom, concrete house was seen engulfed in flames. Our initial investigation revealed that the house was unoccupied. It was furnished and that obviously the house was broken into before it was allegedly set on fire, as the house had no electricity at the time of the fire. So this is an ongoing investigation into this matter.”

“Have you all been able to identify who the owner is and have you all been able to contact that person?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, we have. We have made contact with the person in charge of the house, as both the original owners have died, so the house was left in the care of a relative.”
