Hattieville police officer shoots wanted man
Another man is also recovering from gunshot wounds tonight, but this time the gunman is a police officer. According to Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid, P.C. Felix Garcia, currently stationed at the Hattieville branch, spotted twenty-six year old Glenroy Clarke, a man with a warrant against him for theft and wanted for questioning for possible involvement in other crimes. P.C. Garcia says he saw Clarke walking with something in his hand and ordered him to stop. Clarke decided to take his chances and ran away. Garcia fired a warning shot in the air, but Clarke continued to hotfoot it. The police officer fired again, this time hitting the running man in his upper right thigh. Clarke was taken to the Hattieville Health Centre where he was treated for a flesh wound and released into police custody. As in all gunfire involving police officers, P.C. Garcia is being investigated to determine whether or not he used unnecessary force in this incident.
