Peyrefitte Defends the Port Loyola Monarch
Attorney General Mike Peyrefitte is one of four United Democratic Party candidates contesting Sunday’s convention in Port Loyola. He enjoys the full support of Area Representative Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez who is retiring from electoral politics in 2020. Boots is highly opinionated and has a knack for words, but did he put his boots in his mouth last week when he referred to himself as king of Port Loyola? Peyrefitte was quick to come to his defense today, saying that not only is the four-time area rep disrespected, but that his comments were taken out of context. Here’s what Peyrefitte has to say.
Michael Peyrefitte, U.D.P. Candidate, Port Loyola
“Boots Martinez, in my view, has been disrespected and when you’re disrespected you become emotional and all I think he was trying to say is that, come on, the people of Port Loyola elected him in a general election. What happens on November fourth doesn’t change that at all. All that will happen on November fourth is that the U.D.P. will choose who will represent the Port for the U.D.P. in an election when the minister steps down. That’s all it is, it’s no more than that, although it may seem given the nervousness of some people, they take it to be more than that. But all that is happening on November fourth is to see who will represent Boots as the U.D.P. representative for Port, nothing more than that and all that he was trying to do is to remind the four of us that whoever is fortunate enough to come out victorious on that day, he is still the area representative and I think that is accurate and proper for him to say and maintain.”
