Delroy Chaplin Charged for Armed Robbery at Pacheco’s Jewellery Store
There were two robberies over the weekend in Belize City for which two persons have been detained; one has since been arrested and charged. The first occurred on Friday during the lunch hour. Two thieves carried out the brazen broad daylight robbery at Pacheco’s Jewelry Shop on East Collet Canal. One armed with a gun, pounced on Britney Myers and demanded that she hand over the jewellery. But as the two robbers attempted to escape with over thirty-five thousand dollars worth of jewellery, a police patrol was able to detain one of them. Police say thirty-two-year-old Delroy Chaplin was caught with a bag filled with the stolen jewellery; his accomplice, however, got away. Chaplin has been charged with armed robbery, but refuses to cooperate with police as they look for another suspect in connection with this crime.

“She reported that while she was inside the business establishment, two male persons entered; one armed with a firearm who pointed the firearm at her and demanded to hand over the jewelleries that were inside a show glass inside the business establishment. One of the men ordered her to lay down on the floor, which she complied and thereafter one of them jumped over the counter and cleaned out the jewelleries that were inside the show glass. As a result the two male persons ran from the business establishment and quick police response led to the detention of one Delroy Roderick Chaplin. He was pursued and the police found all the jewelleries in his possession and as a result of that, he was arrested and charged for the crime of robbery.”
