Fatal Hit & Run in the South; 1 Man Detained
One person is detained pending further investigation into a fatal hit and run incident in the south. Alta Vista villager, forty-four-year-old David Cunil was discovered dead on the Southern Highway sometime after nine o’clock on Saturday night in the village. Police investigation has so far revealed that Cunil was drinking with friends that day and was hit by the vehicle as he was walking home. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett gives the details.

“Dangriga police responded to reports of a body on the side of the highway in Alta Vista Village where upon arrival they observed the body of a Hispanic male later identified as David Cunil, forty-four-years with severe head and body injuries and apparently dead. The scene was processed and the body was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital where it now awaits a post-mortem examination. Police investigation into this matter has led to the detention of one person, who is being interviewed from whom useful information was had. So this is a ongoing investigation which we believe may lead to an arrest shortly.”

“Was he walking?”

“Yes, he was walking. It is our understanding that he left from work in Alta Vista Village sometime after five and was socializing with friends before he decide to go to his house.”

“And how were you able to come up on that individual? Did he turn himself in?”

“No he did not. It’s police investigation that had led to his detention.”
