CitCo’s Missing Heavy-Duty Equipment Mysteriously Appears
A third missing piece of heavy-duty equipment that the Belize City Council was searching for has been returned. The John Deere tractor which was purchased for fifty-four thousand dollars was secretly delivered to the council’s works compound on the George price Highway about three weeks ago. No one knows who took it there or how. What the Belize City Council knows, however; is that there seems to be some level of collusion between the person who delivered the tractor and a current city council employee. That’s because the security cameras were mysteriously not working when the tractor was delivered. Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold explained.
Oscar Arnold, Deputy Mayor, Belize City Council
“The equipment mysteriously appeared at the Works compound. At the time when we reviewed the video footage, the cameras were mysteriously not working as well. So our councilor in charge of works Albert Vaughan has been tasked to look into the matter for us because there seems to have been some level of collusion between the individual who brought it back and some current employees of the city council. We do not want to cast aspersion but I am reporting to you exactly how it happened. And also it would cost us to get the machine up and back running. Originally when the machines were gotten, these machines were working. Obviously, someone got used of this, probably made money off it and now this is the reality that we face now. We have to try to get it working so that we can benefit some of the residents here in the city.”
Mayor Arnold says that tractor is in poor condition. The two other pieces of equipment that had been originally missing were delivered to the city council with the help of U.D.P. Minister Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez. An audit revealed that the equipment was parked at Martinez’s compound on the George Price Highway.
