Students Affected by Deplorable Road Conditions in the South
For the past few weeks, students from southern villages like San Jose, Dolores, San Benito Poite, Barranco, just to name a few, have been affected by the terrible road conditions. The road leading to Toledo Community College is in horrible conditions due to the heavy rains. The road is so bad that buses are having a difficult time getting through. Ligorio Coy, who owns and operates a bus, says he has had enough. He has expressed concerns to the relevant authorities but says that his concerns have fallen on deaf ears.
Ligorio Coy, Bus Owner
“Every day morning and evening, I transport the students from here. I am experiencing a lot of mechanical problem and I try to communicate with Ministry of Education this morning which is Mr. Lino. He told me this morning, he really offended me with his word, he said that he did not want to hear anything from me. The reality is that I am speaking the truth. It is not because I do not want to run. He told me earlier to get to the parents, it is my assumption maybe he wants me and the parents to full the road but we cannot do that manually.”

“So have you guys made any complaints to the Ministry of Works? “
Ligorio Coy
“Many times, I think that young man is tired of seeing my face so I do not want to go anymore in his office.”
Reporter
“So this is what you are stuck with now?”
Ligorio Coy
“The bus stuck. The B.D.F. tried to pull me out but they still can’t me out. The students are in there. It is hot in there but I can’t do anything.”
Reporter
“So at this moment who are you appealing to in all for this situation to get address?”
Ligorio Coy
“Well I called the institution which is TCC to try to seek for some help to get this evening from here but I am still waiting. I have been here for an hour.
Reporter
“And TCC is how far away from here?”
Ligorio Coy
“It would say about a mile if it is there.”
Reporter
“And Ministry of Work also?”
Ligorio Coy
“Yes, Ministry of Works is right there before TCC.”
Reporter
“So if this road does not get fix, are you going to continue your bus run on this side?”
Ligorio Coy
“Well that is what I explained to Mr. Lino. He said that he does not want to hear me saying that because I am willing. Well I have a reliable transportation but if I continue to do this it will not be reliable.”
