2 die in weekend accident on Hummingbird Hwy.
Two people are dead tonight as a result of a traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway late Thursday evening. According to police reports, around 7:30 p.m., police went to an area near mile twenty-one where they found an overturned Gray Nissan with one passenger trapped inside and two others lying on the ground outside the car. All three men were rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital. The passenger found in the car, identified as twenty-five year old volunteer B.D.F. Lincoln Orellano Hyde was pronounced dead on arrival. His two companions, thirty-seven year old Elston Palacio and thirty-two year old Roy Orellano, both suffering from serious head and body injuries, were later transferred to the K.H.M.H. Efforts to save Palacio were unsuccessful, as he died early Saturday morning. Hospital officials at the K.H.M.H. tell News 5 that the sole survivor of the accident, Roy Orellano, remains in critical condition. What exactly caused the car to overturn is not yet known.
