So-called Vehicle Belonging to Senior Officer’s Wife is Fake News!
This morning, ComPol Whylie also debunked rumors that a vehicle reportedly belonging to the wife of a senior police officer was used in the trafficking of the narcotics. While a vehicle was indeed used as part of the sting operation, it does not belong to an officer. The Commissioner of Police also commented on the overall investigation into this particular seizure.
Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police
“There’s no indication that any senior officer was involved. I understand that a white vehicle was put out there on Facebook and a lot of nonsense said about a senior officer. There is no truth to that rumor. We need to stop putting up nonsense without confirming. The vehicle involved was involved in the operation. The vehicle does not belong to that senior officer any at all, nor his wife or his family.”

“Is it a police vehicle?”
Allen Whylie
“No, it’s not but it’s an official vehicle.”
Reporter
“So it was involved in the lawful aspect of the operation.”
Allen Whylie
“Yes. It was. The investigation is ongoing, so I won’t say that the, the organized crime or the organization has been dismantled. We do have a number of persons that we believe to be involved. Unfortunately, as we said, we didn’t catch the plane, we didn’t catch the driver or the occupants and so it is difficult to tie them. But we are working in terms of how we can tie them, as I said, surveillance led to certain actions being taken. So it’s significant in terms of removing that quantity of drugs. We don’t know if all would have been taken out of the country or some would have remained, it would have hit the streets of Mexico or our northern counterpart, the U.S. So any interdiction in terms of drugs is significant. We’ve got to improve in terms of our hardening of Belize to dissuade traffickers and transnational organizations from using Belize.”
