B.N.T.U. President Gives Education Minister an ‘F’
As B.N.T.U. National President, Senator Elena Smith explains the teachers have decided to demonstrate against DPM Patrick Faber and so following the rally, the teachers will converge in front of the Ministry of Education to drive home the point that they will not tolerate being disrespected. So when Senator Smith was asked what the B.N.T.U. thinks of Faber as the Minister of Education, she responded with strong words.
Senator Elena Smith, National President, B.N.T.U.
“Based on what we are going through and based on our experience that we’ve had with the Minister, I would say that he has not been very efficient and he has not been genuine. That has been our experience. You all saw where the Ministry and he included kept saying that ‘Ms. Elena did not say anything’. They kept saying that when we showed you all the minutes of that meeting that clearly showed that as a union we had said to them that we had not agreed. So out experience with the Minister has showed that he has not been too genuine. I believe that there are sometime where he probably has good intentions but he takes things personal and that gets the better side of him and because he becomes too personal then he loses his focus. So he needs to refocused and understand that as the Minister of Education he is not here to be personal. He is here to do a job. And that job must be done. It does not matter, what comes before him he must always remember that his job is to ensure that our education system is the best that it can be. We don’t feel that that has been done.”
