Silva will stay in Cabinet
And in one final note from the House, Cayo Central representative and Minister of Agriculture Dan Silva this afternoon ended all speculation about his future when he told the nation that while all is not perfect in his government, party and Cabinet, he will take the path of reformation instead of resignation.
Dan Silva, Minister of Agriculture
“Madam Speaker, I’d like to tell the nation of this Belize, the people of Belize that yes, as a minister I do have some concerns. I’ve told the Prime Minister and I wanted to say today that any minister in my government, or the Prime Minister’s government, that I will fight you if I know that you’re doing the wrong thing. And some of us need to look at…because nobody’s perfect, but the time has come for us to change what we’ve been doing, some of us and to think, remember who put us in government. And in that case, I will work with my government, the Prime Minister has assured me that we will work together with all the ministers. We need to have a time to reflect and see how we can move forward together as one party. Because the Opposition for sure is not the answer.”
One member of the House absent from today’s sitting was member for Belize Rural Central and Minister of Budget Planning, Ralph Fonseca. Fonseca left the country earlier in the week to care for his sister Andrea Cox, who is hospitalised in Florida.
