Middleton receives award for community service
Today’s meeting of the Business Bureau was not all politics. A few minutes were set aside to present the prestigious Marla Holder Award. This year’s recipient is Eva Middleton. Middleton, who holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, is best known for her work as an early advocate of breast-feeding. She’s also a veteran community worker, who has toiled long and hard on women in development issues. The award is presented annually to outstanding Belizean women for their work in the community. Marla Holder, an accomplished Belizean agronomist, died in 1988.
