U.D.P. and P.U.P. Hold Simultaneous Conventions in Separate Divisions
In other political news….the U.D.P. also held a convention in the Stann Creek West Division. Labour Commissioner Ivan Williams emerged victorious with one thousand two hundred and twelve votes. He thrashed Macario Augustine and Camelio Kal who received two hundred and forty-one and one hundred and sixty-two votes respectively. Williams is set to go against the current Stann Creek west Representative, Rodwell Ferguson.
On the other side of the political divide, the People’s United Party also held a convention this past Sunday in the Cayo Central Constituency. Nine hundred and fifty-nine voters participated with six hundred and twenty choosing Alex Balona as their preferred candidate. Balona went up against Collet Montejo who garnered three hundred and twenty-three votes. Balona will go against the U.D.P.’s Area representative, Rene Montero.
