When Prince Andrew arrived at the Gracie Rock Youth Hostel this morning it wasn’t to tour the facilities, but to officially open a new addition: the youth hostel classroom and library.
Prince Andrew, Duke of York
“Again a pleasure for me to be here today, particularly when the U.K. has been generous enough to provide through its Small Grants Scheme, more aid to develop…and particularly in the human development of Belize. That is, I think, particularly important. So without further ado, it gives me great pleasure to open the building.”
He drew the curtains to unveil a plaque on a wooden building that the boys and girls have been using. And then he spent some time in the classroom with a student.

“That is a cent. So it’s one coin, two coins, three coins with number one, so that’s three. What about this one?”
Student
Four.”
Prince Andrew
“Well done.”
The classroom and library at mile twenty-one on the Western Highway were constructed at a cost of fifty thousand dollars under the British High Commission Small Grant Scheme. Ann-Marie Williams for News 5.
At 1:30 this afternoon Prince Andrew was off to Price Barracks in Ladyville where he inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the B.D.F. He also met with members of BATSUB and their families. The Prince left for Guatemala City this afternoon, his next stop on a Central American tour.
