Unburied body spends night at Lord’s Ridge

Story Picture
A dead body six feet under at the Lord Ridge Cemetery is certainly nothing out of the ordinary, but when a corpse is left overnight above ground, it becomes a problem. That’s just what happened to one unfortunate soul this week. According to gravediggers, this morning they arrived at the burial ground and found this box with what turned out to be a body inside. The men had no idea who the dead man was and who had left him there. Subsequent investigations today have revealed that the corpse is forty-five year old Frank Taylor, the Belize City man who was found dead in a parked car on Monday. Police pathologists had conducted an onsite autopsy on Taylor Monday evening, but according to them, had left the body in charge of the undertaker and family members at the cemetery with instructions to bury the man immediately. But in an interview with News 5, the undertaker, Rudolph Jenkins, says he was never responsible for the body and had only provided a wooden box to the family as a temporary measure until the man could be buried. Today, members of the Taylor family also denied liability and say they did not realise their relative was left overnight in the cemetery. While all sides are pointing fingers, the action does violate several public health codes and an investigation has been launched to prevent it from happening again. In the meantime, the late Frank Taylor was finally laid to rest this afternoon.
