An Elderly Cheese Vendor Goes Missing En Route to Dangriga
Tonight, the family of an elderly woman from San Felipe Village in the Orange Walk District continues a desperate search for their loved one whom they reported missing on Sunday. According to Ramiro Ixpec, his mother, sixty-eight-year-old Martha Gonzalez, was last seen on November twenty-third when she set out to sell produce in Dangriga. It is uncertain whether she arrived at her destination in one piece. Police say that a bulletin has been issued to formations across the country.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“On November twenty-fifth, one Ramiro Ixpec visited the Orange Walk Police Station where he reported that his mother, one Martha Gonzalez, sixty-eight-year-old naturalized Belizean of San Felipe Village who departed her home on November twenty-third, [was] en route to Dangriga to sell cheese. Up to the time of him making the report, she was not heard from. As a result, hence the reason the report was made. Police are investigating this matter and all formation messages have been sent and we are seeking information which can lead us to any information that can assist us in identifying where she is at this time.”

“Has this woman, his mother, ever been missing before? Are there any conditions that the public should be aware of? Maybe she had a health condition for example. Is there anything that makes the search more rushed?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“None that was reported to us, however, we were also informed that this is not the first time. She had made several trips to that area to conduct sales.”
