Glenford Patterson is Charged with Ontario Home Invasion

Fifty-five-year-old Simeon Alvaro Perez was brutally attacked and stabbed as many as twelve times during a home invasion last Wednesday.  The caretaker had just arrived at work at the DeYoung residence in Ontario Village when he happened upon a burglary in progress.  Armed with a shovel, Perez proceeded to investigate a commotion on the property.  That’s when he was accosted by the robbers who viciously knifed him, before hitting him over the head with the same shovel.  Perez is still recovering from those injuries at the Western Regional Hospital.  Tonight, however, police have detained one of the four men who broke into the home off Prayer Mountain Road.  Twenty-six-year-old Glenford Patterson has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and it is believed that his detention will lead to the arrest of his accomplices.

“Are you able to tell us how the investigators were able to crack the case, sir?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“They were following several leads which resulted in this.  They are continuing to follow leads in order to try and get the other persons concerned in custody.”

Reporter

“Was it established that this was a robbery attempt or was the person charged, did he intend to hurt somebody instead?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well, it was a robbery in that certain electronic items and money were stolen and, as per the previous press briefing, the caretaker at that time attempted to intervene in order to assist his boss and that is when he was injured.”
