Murder on Mahogany St. looks like revenge

Story Picture
As if to add a note of drama to this morning’s activities in Battlefield Park, word came from the rostrum of a fatal shooting which had just occurred on Mahogany Street. Police are not speculating publicly on why twenty-six year old William Mark Osmond was shot and killed, but revenge is widely believed to be the motive. Authorities say Osmond was walking by a mechanic shop when a young man approached him and fired a shot. The bullet hit Osmond in the stomach and as he ran to the back of the establishment, the gunman shot him again, this time in the chest. Osmond collapsed and died while being taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Rumours are that Osmond may not have been the intended target and that the bullet was meant for another young man who was with him at the time. Police say further investigations have revealed that before the gunman killed Osmond, he allegedly held up another young man on Mayflower Street. Witnesses from that neighbourhood, known as “Bilar”, told News 5 that a number of residents dropped to the ground when they saw the man take out his gun and put it to the man’s head. But the gun apparently jammed and the prospective victim managed to get away. This afternoon, police said they have a suspect in custody and he is no stranger to law enforcement. The man identified as Kenneth Flowers better known as “Big Tom”, was himself only discharged from the K.H.M.H. on Tuesday. Flowers had been hospitalised on Sunday afternoon suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest. At the time, Flowers told police that two young men had shot him, but he refused to co-operate in the investigation.
