Tonight, KTV 2002 starts on Channel 5. Over the next thirteen weeks, sixty contestants will try to win the hearts of judges and a national television audience. Back as host for the crowd pleasing show is William Neal.

“Well Jackie this is the second year of Karaoke Television, and last year was a blast, but I think this year will be even more hype. We’re definitely incorporating the fun element, that’s in built, but we’re also looking at showcasing talent as well, as a part of the show. Not just karaoke-wise, but other talents as well, so that will be a new feature. And of course it’s still family oriented and it’s all about, fun, fun, fun, come out an have a good time.”

KTV producer, Mary Rhaburn has been supervising auditions and believes that there are surges out there who have not yet signed up, but are capable of walking away with the karaoke championship.

“So far in the auditions we’ve had some really good people entering. Of course, you’re not going to see everybody that has entered, tonight. We will be contacting those that I haven’t been able to as yet, because we’ve been busy working on this first show. I’m asking that people who are interested in entering the competition, to enter in our next auditions, we will be promoting on Channel 5, letting you know the dates and where we are going to be. There are a lot of people out there that can sing. I think maybe they have a little cold feet because it’s on TV, because if you go around to the different karaoke bars, you see people singing and you want to know why they don’t come and enter. Come on down, join in the fun, enter the competition. We have a lot of big prizes and they could be that lucky winner to walk away with it.”

Tonight’s contestants hail from Belize City, Belmopan and San Ignacio. Here’s a preview of what they’ve got to offer.
