Two robbed in separate Sat. morning hold-ups
Police are also investigating two robbery reports in Belize City. According to thirty-two year old teacher Diedre Faux, around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, she was near the Queen Square Market when two young men on bicycles rode up to her. Faux says one of the men put a gun to her head and demanded her handbag. When she refused, the other thief grabbed the bag, cut the straps with a knife and both men ran away. Faux sustained a cut to her hand during the incident and the men made off with two hundred and twenty dollars. A half an hour later, a man walking on Central American Boulevard was also robbed. Thirty-year-old Miguel Mejia says he was walking alone when a man armed with a knife approached him and demanded money. Mejia handed over the thousand dollars he was carrying and the robber ran away. Police have yet to make any arrests.
