Meet Gimme 5’s Grand Prize Winner

This month Great Belize Productions/Channel Five marked its twenty-seventh anniversary of broadcast. In a time honored tradition, we celebrated our milestone the way we have from the very first year to this, the twenty-seventh, with our annual Gimme Five giveaways.  Every night, lucky winners said the magic words via phone to secure themselves a heap of fabulous prizes. On Friday night it was joyous celebration as we gave away our grand prize of the week. The winner was Allison Trapp from Ladyville, but his wife Desserine Prince was the one who submitted the tickets and answered the phone. We met her today when she came to collect her cache of prizes.

“We put three hundred tickets in the tank this year.”

“You participate in Gimme Five every year?”

Desserine Prince

“Not straight but we did it already.”

“Tell me about Friday night.”

Desserine Prince

“Well when the phone ring, I had two phones in my hand: my phone and my husband phone and I watch the number and I press and say Gimme Five. And I jump up cause I didn’t know what to do and I said yes, yes, yes. And I start walk up and down and my son got up and he start to hi5. I was nervous, nervous and my whole inside was trembling.”

“The name of the ticket says Allisson Trapp but you put the ticket in. Explain that to me.”

“Well we came and we fill out a card and I put half in his name and half in my name.”

“So who’s claiming the prizes then?”

Desserine Prince

“Hmm…I guess me.”

The Grand Prize included a brand new JIYO Motorcycle from United Distributors, a roundtrip ticket to the United States courtesy United Airlines, five hundred dollars cash from Confetti, two hundred savings account from Belize Bank, a drone from Cellular World and additional gift baskets and gift certificates from our partners.
