2 Months Later, Milo Paz is Reported Missing
Two months after the Paz family in San Pedro Town received information that forty-nine-year-old Jose Milo Paz had perished, on Friday; his wife Ermijines Paz filed a missing person’s report at the police station saying that the pilot cannot be located. In early October, reports spread like wildfire that the veteran pilot and aviation pioneer died in a plane wreck in the mountains of Panama as he piloted a private plane originating from Guatemala. There were reports that the Paz family was making arrangements to import his charred remains for a burial service. In a statement to the police on the island, Ermijines said she last heard from her husband on October seventh. She reported that she dropped him off at the airstrip in San Pedro on October third as he was travelling to Flores, Peten, Guatemala. She states that they had been in contact via social media for four days until she lost communication with him. Police told the media they have no confirmation if Paz is alive or dead, but they have since contacted their counterparts in Guatemala and Panama. ASP Alejandro Cowo told the media today that it was not the first time that Paz had been privately hired for flights.

“He was to do some business at Flores, Peten, Guatemala. She mentioned that she had taken her husband to the San Pedro Municipal airstrip and that was the last time that she had seen her husband. She also mentioned that after he departed from San Pedro that both of them were communicating through messenger until the seventh of October and that was the last time that she actually had a text message from Mister Paz.”

“After the seventh, reports came out that Mister Paz had died in an airplane crash, somewhere in Central America. That was the word that came to the family and now we are hearing that he is missing, two months after the wife is saying this?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“Well that was the information that was being circulated on most of the social media and on the news. However, I know that the Belize Police Department has liaised with Guatemalan authorities and the Panamanian authorities to verify whether or not Mister Paz was indeed in Las Flores, Peten and in Panama, but so far we have not received any response from them since we just sent that report on Friday after the female filed the report.”

“Is it just a formality for insurance purposes why the report was just made that he’s missing since they were of the belief that he had passed away long before?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“We do not believe that it is only because of insurance policy; we do not even know if he is insured or not.”
The Panamanian government has been unable to confirm any aircraft accident in that Central American country.
