Marvin Mora is New N.T.U.C.B. President
The National Trade Union Congress of Belize has a new president. Established unionist Marvin Mora succeeds Floyd Neal at the helm of the umbrella organization where he will be steering the labor movement countrywide. Mora told the media earlier today that he was initially reluctant to enter the race once again, but that the overwhelming support from fellow union members led to a change of mind. The fifty-second annual general meeting of the NTUCB was held in Corozal Town on Saturday where delegates from all ten member unions gathered at the ITVET.
Marvin Mora, President, N.T.U.C.B.
“As you all know, I’ve always been willing and I’ve always worked along with the trade union movement, whether it is with the National Trade Union Congress of Belize or with the executive of my union simply because of my principles and my core beliefs. However, the reason why I ended up, as you say it, throwing my hat in the ring was simply because I was approached by some of the members of the utilities where we operate and other union members as well who are delegates to the N.T.U.C.B. and that show of support prompted me to decide that it is time for me to do, put my name again on the candidates list for the presidency.”
