UDP replace two standard bearers
Barrow also announced that the party has replaced two of the standard bearers, citing personal commitment as the reasons why they will not be able to contest the upcoming general elections. Mario Galvez of Lake I, has been replaced by Louis Leslie, who ran an unsuccessful convention in the Port Loyola Division, and Colin Gillett has replaced Jason Metzskin of Belize Rural Central as the new candidate.

“It’s possible. As I’ve said, I don’t want to give the impression that we’re engaged in any kind of house cleaning…”
Ann-Marie Williams
“Does it have to be an impression. I mean, can’t it be the truth?”
Dean Barrow
“Except that it wouldn’t be the truth because that’s not what we’re doing. We’ve said though that we keep the entire situation as to candidacies under constant review. And I think that’s a natural function of any party that is serious about ensuring that it gets, at the end of the day and before the end of the elections, the best possible team. If those who are our standard bearers work in the way they should, continue to represent the party with vigour and dignity, then this is the team we’re going to take through to the elections. But, if there are the sorts of slippages that it turns out can’t be remedied, then we make the changes that we have to make.”
The press conference wrapped up with the Opposition Leader naming Bernard Q. Pitts and Tina Auxillou as the opposition’s members to the Belize Advisory Board.
