Police make arrest in Dwayne Arnold murder

Police have arrested a man for the murder of well-known Belizean cyclist and proprietor of Electrical Zone Rebuilders, Dwayne Arnold. He is twenty-nine year old Erlin White. White was picked up last night in Orange Walk and was today charged with Arnold’s murder after he was positively identified in an ID parade. It is alleged that shortly after 5:00 on Monday evening, White stepped into Arnold’s business place on Cemetery Road and asked for him. Arnold came out of his office and White asked him for a quarter, but when Arnold reached into his pocket, White pulled out a gun and shot him in the head. Authorities say because of the way the crime occurred, they strongly believe White was hired to commit the murder. But why would anyone want to kill Arnold, who has been described as a friendly sports man who worked hard and had only recently expanded his business? According to police, they are investigating the murder from all angles, including that of a large sum of money to a heated dispute. Police say at this time they do not know if a one-month-old incident in which Arnold’s vehicle was burnt is connected to the crime.
