“We’re gonna have the Grace Primary Steel Band, the Pantempters and additional music will be provided by Mr. Peters and his Boom and Chime Band. Admission is free, we’re encouraging the public to come out with your loved ones to the Battlefield Park. It’s newly refurbished, you got to taste of it over the Christmas holidays, it’s going to be spectacular, come out and have good, clean wholesome fun. And each month the City of Belize will be putting off an event in which the admission will be completely free.”

Friday’s “Pan Night”, which takes place at the Battlefield Park at 6:30 p.m. is only the first in a series of free concerts sponsored by the City Council. In related news, the deep south will be in for a Valentine’s treat of its own, with crooner Dobby Dobson appearing for two performances at the P.G. Sports Bar in Punta Gorda. Those dates are the fifteenth and sixteenth of February. According to proprietor Felix Flores, he will be bringing none other than the Mighty Sparrow to Toledo in September.
