House member jacked in Ladyville

The good news tonight is that there were no fatalities reported over the weekend; the bad news is that it wasn’t for lack of trying. Police report no less than eight violent incidents between Friday night and Sunday, including shootings, stabbings and armed robberies in various parts of the country. Perhaps the most startling assault of the weekend involves the jacking of Collet Area Representative Remijio Montejo. Montejo was dining with his wife and two children at their restaurant in the Vista Del Mar area of Ladyville around 11:00 Friday night, when two men entered the establishment. One of them produced a handgun and pointed it squarely at the head of Montejo’s five-month-old son. At that point, the politician handed over six hundred dollars, while the robbers helped themselves to an additional four hundred from the cash register. Strangely, neither bandit wore a mask and the victims have identified one of them as a resident of the area named Jerry Hunter. Police have been looking for Hunter since Saturday, but have yet to apprehend him.
