Police nab “Fisher” but Fuentes still at large
Tonight, after more than a week of countrywide manhunts, police have detained a prime suspect in a string of murders and attempted murders that have plagued Belize City and Belmopan of late. According to police, nineteen-year-old Marlon “Fisher” Harris is now in police custody and is expected to be charged tomorrow. Harris was captured in San Pedro around mid-day today after islanders who recognised him from his wanted poster tipped off authorities to his presence. Police sources tell us he did not resist arrest. Harris has been fingered as an accomplice of police “most wanted” man, twenty-six year old Jermaine Fuentes Depaz. It is alleged that on January twenty-seventh, Harris, Fuentes and twenty-one year old Ian Sutherland, were together in an area near Belizean Beach when thirty-six year old Joel Waight was shot twice in the head and left for dead. Harris, originally of Belmopan, but currently of South Street Belize City, is also the number one suspect in a series of robberies in Belmopan. If you have any information about the whereabouts of either Jermaine Fuentes Depaz or Ian Sutherland, please contact the nearest police station. Anonymous calls are accepted.
