Pioneer medical practitioner dead at 90
She was a pioneer in every sense of the word and a role model for several generations of Belizean women. And tonight we regret to report that Dr. Bernice Hulse is dead. Over her ninety years, Dr. Hulse accomplished much, particularly in the field of public health, where she led the team which virtually eradicated tuberculosis from the country. Hulse practised medicine in every district and ended her career with thirteen years as the in house physician for Belize Sugar Industries. The funeral service for Dr. Bernice Hulse will take place Saturday afternoon at St. John’s Cathedral in Belize City.
