Christmas Day Fire; Family Loses Everything in San Pedro Town
And on Christmas Day a family was left homeless when a fire broke out inside their home around ten in the morning. It happened on Marina Drive in the DFC area in San Pedro Town. The family of six lost everything and one person was injured. The National Fire Service tells us more about the fire that destroyed the wooden home on the island.

“The San Pedro branch of the National Fire Service received and responded to reports from the police of a structural fire on Marina Drive via sea area, San Pedro. On arrival on scene, found was an eighteen by thirty wooden structure, elevated five feet off the ground on fire. The structure was destroyed as a result of the fire. That structure was occupied by a family of six. One individual, male, said to have received burnt injuries to his back as a result of the fire. The fire is said to have originated in the south-east section of the structure. The cause is still under investigation.”
