Director of Energy Explains the Need for Rate Increase
Director of Energy Ambrose Tillett also says that the rate increase being proposed is both wise and acceptable for the supply of service to consumers.

“The reason why we have to approve this increase is because a lot of these increases are actually locked in already. Pretty much, almost all of this increase that we are proposing to grant is really cost that B.E.L. has already incurred and as far as the commission is concerned, these are prudent and reasonable costs to supply service. And so what we are more concerned about is to make sure that prices going forward are more reasonable, that they are more stable and that, as the chairman said, once we approve these increases which are really locked in already, we want to make sure that B.E.L., going forward, at least keeps prices to where they were before these increases went into effect.”
