Marvin Ottley freed of attempted murder charges
Two men were in court today charged with Attempted Murder and Robbery and at the end of their trial, twenty-seven year old Marvin Ottley walked free, while Allen James was not so lucky. Ottley’s attorney, Oswald Twist, entered a no case submission, which was upheld by Justice Adolph Lucas. The jury of eight women and one man was then ordered to find him not guilty. James, however, is still facing the charges for an incident on the night of June twenty-first, 2007 when Sen Sen Store on Daly Street was robbed. Owner of the store, Si Mei Deng, reported to police that two men disarmed the security guard, held her up at gunpoint and stole one thousand, one hundred dollars in cash. A security guard on duty at a nearby game room, Clifford Guy, saw the robbery in progress and tried to assist, and there was an exchange of gunfire. James was additionally charged with Grievous Harm because a resident of the area, Kimberly Marin, was hit with a stray bullet. That charge, however, was withdrawn by the prosecution, which was represented by Crown Counsel Trienia Young.
