Two Belize City men are lucky to have escaped grave injuries when they were shot while at a residence on Police Street on Wednesday evening. Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Young and twenty-three-year-old Kevan Slusher were attacked while reportedly repairing an outboard engine inside the yard. According to Slusher’s relatives, a pair of men approached on a bicycle and opened fire in the direction of the property, hitting Young on the left arm and injuring Slusher to the right hand. It is unclear what led to the shooting, but News Five understands that in fleeing the scene, the assailants ran left the bicycle and were reportedly pursued by Young’s father. Both men remain hospitalized in stable condition. The incident succeeds a string of shootings in Belize City since New Year’s Day when reputed gang boss Joseph Babb was executed in the Coral Grove neighborhood. Police are yet to make any connections between the two incidents.
