Holy Emmanuel Street to be Rehabilitated

Mayor Bernard Wagner was also asked about the state of Holy Emmanuel Street in the Gungulung area. After Mayor Wagner and his team took over management of the city, it was promised that Holy Emmanuel Street will be rehabilitated. Works have yet to commence because, according to the Mayor, it’s a long term project which requires adequate funding.

“We are waiting confirmation in respect to the bond because before you do these funding you have to get funding. We can’t undertake any project without adequate funding and that is why we are still awaiting approval on the bond.”

“So what does the timeline looks like?”

“Well, that is a very good question. We met with the Central Bank just prior to the Christmas break. We have a few glitches that we need to sort of in respect to the municipal offer. That is set for late January when we go back to them with our plan with respect to some of the matters they brought up. But I can’t give u a timeline on that; that’s solely up to the Government and the Minister of Finance.”
