Over $60,000 awarded in “Catch the cash”
With prizes running as high as a better-than-average Lotto jackpot, the promotions run by Courts are a serious matter for thousands of Belizeans. Today the latest lucky winner got a chance to add to his already formidable earnings.

The coupons worth a total of twenty-five thousand dollars were well stocked and ready to be thrown into the booth…but when the papers were released, it took George Carr a little time to catch on.
George Carr, Winner, Catch The Cash Draw
“Well first of all, I was nervous and I never know that once the money was being put inside the booth I was supposed to start to catch. I never knew about it. I was waiting for them to give me a sign to start.”
Carr says following advice he received from those who claimed to know best, he tried to catch the coupons that were closer to the ground and not flying around the box. While that strategy did not make him reach his goal, Carr is satisfied with what he collected…ten thousand, three hundred and ninety dollars.

“Did that amount surprise you?”
George Carr
“Not really. I had plans to catch at least twenty or twenty odd thousand. But I started late and I was a bit nervous.”
Last week, Carr’s name was selected for Court’s final Catch the Cash Draw worth seventy five thousand dollars. The mere selection gave Carr a guaranteed fifty thousand dollars plus today’s catch. Following the draw, Courts Belize handed Carr a cheque for sixty thousand, three hundred and ninety dollars.

“Customers really love this one. It creates an excitement just to see somebody in there, you want to jump in there and help them to catch more money, so it’s all exciting. And judging by the amount of tickets we had, we have quite a number of customers shopping with us. So, it has been successful all around, for customers and the company as well.”
Anamarie Bennett, Court’s Belize Advertising and Promotions Manager, says there will be more than just cash given away in the 2002 Draw.

Also, they can win two hundred dollars worth of meats from either Smiling Meats or Running W. They can win two hundred dollar gift certificates from Angelus, and these are all per month for the full year. Plus, they get ten thousand dollars cash.”

However, the biggest prize of the year will come in December when a lucky customer will drive home a 2002 Mitsubishi worth over fifty-five thousand dollars. Along with the vehicle, the winner will also receive certificates good for two hundred dollars worth of fuel per month, plus one year comprehensive insurance and license.
