Driver charged in 1999 death of judge
In justice that was much longer in coming, P.C. Jacinto Roaches has been charged with manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct–for a traffic mishap that occurred over two years ago. Roaches was driving Supreme Court Justice John Rivero from Belize City to Belmopan on the evening of August twenty-third, 1999, when he collided into an oncoming vehicle near mile thirty-four on the Western Highway. The fifty-one year old Rivero was killed in the collision. Roaches has also been interdicted from duty as a result of the charges.
