Muffles College High School Teacher Remains on Administrative Leave Over Leaked Nude Pics
A female teacher of Muffles College High School remains on administrative leave. Nude pictures of the teacher were leaked in December, prompting the administration of the school to request the teacher to resign—a request that she denied. Today, a prescheduled meeting was held at the school’s compound and one of the topics briefly discussed was the status of the third form teacher. We are told that Principal Margaret Johnson told the parents that the matter is still under investigation and proper procedures are being followed with the advice of the school’s attorney. Several parents have reportedly called for the dismissal of the teacher. But as we said on Friday, the school does not have the authority to fire the teacher. The Teaching Services Commission is the only body authorized to do so. The question on whether or not the teacher should be fired over leaked nude pictures has many on both sides of the issue. Attorney Lisa Shoman has weighed on the matter, saying that the school should “investigate who robbed this teacher, who betrayed her trust, and who distributed her images without her express consent. But it is ignorant and unenlightened Victorian-era barbarism to treat the possession by any person of nude images of themselves as some form of moral turpitude, as something shameful or simply wrong. Your constitutional rights confirm your private right.” Shoman says that Muffles College cannot be permitted to prevail with this reported attitude.
