Cisco Contractor Relieved of $5000 in Armed Robbery
There were only a few violent incidents that occurred over the weekend in Belize City. Robberies continue to be a perennial challenge that the Police Department has been grappling with. Over the weekend, two men were hit by robbers in the city. A contractor from Cisco Constructions was robbed of five thousand dollars in cash as he entered a yard on Bocotora Street, a block away from the Raccoon Street Police Station. Assistant Superintendent Alejandra Cowo says that the Crimes Investigation Branch is looking into whether the crime may have been an inside job.

“About two-thirty p.m., when Mister Dennis Saragosa, an employee of Cisco was about to enter his residence at number 5 Bocotora Street, when he was approached by a male person who placed a gun at him and demanded to hand his belongings. As a result, he handed over a knapsack which contained a sum of five thousand dollars in cash. He is a contractor at Cisco and the cash that he had was to pay the other workers. That address; he normally frequents that address and that is where he normally stays when he comes to Belize City as he is a resident of Roaring Creek Village.”

“Is police investigating whether it is an inside job?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“Yes, we are looking at that angle likewise.”
