Double Traffic Fatality in Spanish Lookout
A father and son lost their lives in a double fatality in Spanish Lookout. Manuel Ramos and his son, Jaime, were on motorcycle heading home to their families when they crashed into a pickup truck driven by American national Gregory Mosser. It happened at the end of the work day before six o’clock on Monday evening, when the two collided into the vehicle that was exiting the compound of Caribbean Tire in the Mennonite community. Both Ramoses died on the scene. Their families are totally devastated having abruptly lost the two breadwinners. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

A father and son from Duck Run One Community just outside of Spanish Lookout in the Cayo District perished in a fatal traffic accident on Monday evening. Manuel Ramos was riding a motorcycle along with his son, twenty-six-year-old Jaime Ramos Garcia when they collided into the left front portion of a pickup truck driven by American national Gregory Mosser. The impact from the collision flung the father and son to the pavement and they died on the scene. According to police, Mosser, who was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck, was exiting the compound of Caribbean Tire and turning onto Center Road in Spanish Lookout and into the path of the motorcyclists.

“I think the vehicle just cut the road where the motorcycle was coming and they crash right in the front of the pickup. That’s how it looks like the pickup was coming out from a business. They were laying down both of them, already dead. So I just told the police who they were and we informed the family.”

“Are you able to say where they were coming from? Where they were going?”

“They were coming from work.”

“Mainly working fixing fences and things like that.”
Armando Estrada was one of the first to have arrived on the scene, not knowing that the two bodies on the payment were that of his relatives. He had the difficult task of identifying them.

“I just saw the bodies laying on the road. They were covered already so until later, they called us to look at them to see if we knew who they were.”

“So when you reached on the scene, you didn’t know it was your uncle and cousin?”
Armando Estrada
“No, I didn’t know. Until about fifteen minutes later when they called me.”
When we arrived at the family home this morning, the wives of the deceased men were crying, having lost the breadwinners in their families. The Ramoses have been living in Duck Run for over eighteen years and Manuel and Jaime both have young children, including an eight-month old baby. Estrada says that the family is trying to figure out the next move for their survival.

“It’s kinda hard especially for the very close family cause they have very small kids and it’s a poor family. So for their future we have to really know what will be their plans. I know they are very poor and the kids are small. He has three of them, three small ones. One of them is four; the next one is five and then the next one is seven.”

“And then your cousin had kids as well?”

“Yeah he had two kids; one boy and one girl. And young ones too; one of them is only eight months and the next one is only three years.”
Mosser remains in police custody tonight pending further investigation into the double traffic fatality. Duane Moody for News Five.
