Chinese businessman dies after accident on N. Hwy
A traffic accident on the Northern Highway has claimed the life of a Chinese businessman from Belize City. Police say at around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Shao Lui Deng, a businessman of Mahogany Street, was driving his blue minivan towards Corozal, but upon reaching the area between miles forty-three and forty-four lost control and overturned. Police found the vehicle extensively damaged on the left side of the road and Shao and his six passengers suffering from serious injuries. All seven were rushed to the Orange Walk hospital for treatment and despite efforts by hospital staff, Shao died during surgery. The other six people remain in stable condition at the Orange Walk Hospital. Shao’s body has been transferred to the K.H.M.H. where it awaits a post-mortem.
