Downtown Grocery Store Targeted by Thieves

ASP Alejandro Cowo also gave brief details of an armed robbery in downtown Belize City, which occurred on Tuesday. Midtown Grocery was targeted by two men who posed as customers. One of the robbers, who wore a hooded jacket, pulled out a gun and held up the storeowner, while the other cleaned out the cash register. It is not known how much they got away with, but police say the storeowner is not cooperating with the police.

“Yes there was a robbery. I know the media kept asking for information; however, we have to go based on what the complainants are saying. And based on what they have said, we cannot give that information because they are not requesting any assistance from the police. Yes they are requesting assistance for us to assist them with the investigation, but they do not wish to proceed with the matter.”
