The Ahmadiyya Muslim Annual Convention

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Organization is headquartered in the U.K. But here, the international movement has been working in the community in sports and spiritual services. On Thursday, the national presidents of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and Belize gathered on Buttonwood Bay Boulevard to announce its upcoming annual convention which began today at the ITVET. It also used the event to start its free medical camp with doctors from Canada and its fifth year of the Ahmadiyya basketball league.  The goal of the convention is to carry the message of Islam across the country and to dispel the impression that Muslims are terrorists.

National President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Canada

“The purpose of the convention is to bring together the members and make them realise what are their responsibilities as being followers of the promised messiah from whom the followers of all religions have been waiting. We are now the fortunate ones who believed in him and we have the mission to carry the message of Islam to every human being. And that message is to bring peace between man and God and to bring peace between man and man. This is the core teaching of all religions.”

“The projects that more than likely will take place here in Belize will be about medical care and outreach. There is a strong focus on women’s health and we are doing women health outreach camps in that regard. Also we did a lot of water well projects and water quality projects in Guatemala and different parts of Africa also. So that’s something that if there is a need, we would definitely want to try to meet that. But what’s most important with Humanity First’s work is that whichever country we are working in; we want to make sure that we first assess the need of the people on the ground. We don’t have the capacity to know as well as the people who are here exactly what they need.”

“The fifth year of the Ahmadiyya Basketball League will be inaugurated on Sunday at S.J.C. at nine a.m.  This is, by the grace of God, the biggest youth league in the country right now; over five hundred kids are part of it. And this year is the biggest one that we have ever had so far. It has around fifty teams from all over the country and Mexico. I don’t think believe has had any league that has had that much success so far.”
