2 Weeks and Still No Signs of Anthony Reneau and Evan Neal

Tonight, we have more details about one of two men who went missing off Mapp Caye two weeks ago. His name, as we have reported is Anthony Reneau and his identity has now been confirmed by this picture.  He is an elderly man whom we’ve learnt has spent some time in prison and was released on parole in 2018; that parole would expire in April of this year. He resided in Belize City, but most of his immediate relatives live in the U.S.A.  When Reneau got of jail, he went to live and work on Mapp Caye. But as we reported, Reneau and his boss Evan Neal disappeared without a trace. Their co-worker, Edinio Humes, was found murdered; shot multiple times to the body and dumped in a latrine on the island. Today, we spoke with Mark Neal, who tells us that although it has been two weeks since they last heard from his brother, Evan, they are appealing to the public for help. He says they have not given up hope of finding him alive but they really want closure.

“It has been fifteen days today, which is two weeks. We had launched one of the largest, I think, searches on the sea I have ever done. I am not a sea man and I checked everything there is about my brother. If you tell me he is in a crab hole I check it. I believe in God so much and I will always and continue to do so. But we searched everything in that area. I think it was a five or ten mile radius and we did that five times. We even bring in search planes. The Coast Guard has been tremendous with us trying to do as much as they can. As you know, they only have a limited window. I am asking, I know it has been fifteen days, but I still have hope that my brother is still somewhere out there alive. I need some closure. That is my main thing. I am still asking fisherman, boaters in the area if they saw anything to give us a call. I would be highly appreciative. He is well known. He used to be a captain, also a member of the cooperative. I am asking, please, we need closure.  Some people say well bwai your bredda done dead. We nuh know weh he deh and so we still have hope. I know, in the back of my head it is telling me like that but I don’t want to give up hope. I have to answer to my family abroad and I am trying my best. He has three lovely daughters and they are trying their best to cope. I am here again because I am the strong one and we need closure. It has been two weeks and so we are trying to see what we can come up with.”
