Harpy security Guard charged for Attempted Murder

Richee Mendez

A Harpy Security Guard, Richie Mendez was today before the court for a preliminary inquiry which ended in a paper committal. It means that Mendez will stand trial for attempted murder in the stabbing of thirty-year-old Jose Guzman.    This morning before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford, Mendez saw his old bail revoked and a new bail of two thousand dollars was offered to him when his case was committed to the April session of the Supreme Court. Prosecutor Sergeant Macedonio Sanchez submitted seven statements against Guzman but no physical exhibit since the weapon used in the stabbing was never found. On November sixteenth, 2017, Guzman was stabbed while socializing with friends at the Pickwick Club pool side and Mendez was accused of the stabbing. He was the security guard on duty. Today, Mendez who is now a security guard at Harpy’s Security, was able to meet bail and will appear in the Supreme Court on April second, 2019. He is facing charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm of Guzman who was injured in the abdomen. Guzman and Mendez had an altercation which escalated into the stabbing at about one o’clock in the morning of November seventeenth. Mendez was subsequently charged.
