Veinte is Executed Hours after being Discharged from PG Hospital
The life of thirty-year-old Jordy Flores was cut short on Tuesday night in his own back yard. He had survived two previous attempts, but the third proved fatal. Punta Gorda police have moved quickly and three persons are being questioned while investigators are seeking another. Family members say that someone came calling on him at his house and within seconds, he was executed as he walked to his backyard. Earlier on Tuesday, he was discharged from the Punta Gorda Hospital. Flores is known to the police, but the reason for his murder is under investigation. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

A third attempt on the life of Jordy Flores proved fatal on Tuesday evening when a gunman unleashed a hail of bullets on him. The thirty-year-old Punta Gorda resident was at home on Far West Street when someone came and asked for him by name. Veinte, as Flores was popularly known, was reportedly walking towards the backyard to retrieve a small order of marijuana for the so-called customer when he was shot multiple times from behind. His brother recounts the incident as told to him by relatives who were present when gunfire erupted.

Insp. Bernard Reyes, Deputy O.C., Punta Gorda Police
“Yesterday at about 6:55 p.m., we received information of shots being fired on Far West Street. The police visited the area, however, the body was already transported to the Toledo polyclinic.”
Flores had been shot several times to various parts of the body, the actual number of injuries he received during the incident is yet to be determined.
“So far I nuh think nobody noh really know like that, but ih sound like maybe probably ova three or soh, and da from back on likewise, like I seh, so I nobody noh really know. We di wait right now fi post mortem because dehn just di do it todeh, so probably by tomorrow we wahn know weh really happen.”
Jordy Flores had only just been released from the Punta Gorda Hospital a few hours earlier, after being hospitalized over the weekend. On separate occasions prior to last evening’s final encounter, there had been at least two attempts made on his life.
Insp. Bernard Reyes
“He was injured twice before this. The matter where he was shot a couple months ago was before the court, he made a complaint and two persons were arrested. Prior to that, I was made to understand that he was shot also but he didn’t want to take the matter before the court.”
In April 2017, Flores, along with a young lady identified as Renita Jackson, was fired upon while inside a vehicle. He was shot in the right arm, while Jackson was injured in the right leg. That incident succeeded a previous attempt in June 2014.
“Ih sad and ih hurt but, you know, the good man, leave it all up to him, to he, soh. We wahn cry, we wahn bury the man. We noh wahn no problem. While his loved ones say that they will not avenge Flores’ murder, they are not cooperating with police by providing a statement. So far three persons have been brought in for questioning in relation to this latest homicide.
“Yes, we have three persons detained at this time and we are looking for a fourth person who can assist us in this investigation. We are yet to go back to the family and discuss issues with them, as we were with them up to like after eleven o’clock last night. So we are supposed to go back there and discuss certain issues with them today.”

“Is there anything else you can share with me regarding this particular incident that I may be overlooking?”
“Well I would just like to ask for the community assistance, in that if they saw anything last night, they must report it or contact the officer in charge or myself and I guarantee them the information they share with us will be confidential.”
