U.D.P.’s OJ Elrington Blames Mischief Makers

A land dispute in Belama Phase Four is heating up and escalating into a political battle between the P.U.P. Area Representative Francis Fonseca and U.D.P. Standard Bearer Orson ‘OJ’ Elrington.  As we have been reporting, thirty families have been told that they need to vacate a piece of land reportedly owned by Alex Chang of Fen Land Development Company. In late last year, the residents were told that they were illegally occupying the peace of land and that all structures must be dismantled.  On Monday, some of the residents received a notice to vacate from the property within one month. On Wednesday, however, residents allege that agents of Chang dismantled two houses. Elrington who met with some of the residents this evening told the media that Chang has denied the allegations. He further stated that the dismantling of the houses was done by mischief makers.

“Somehow yesterday to my surprise and I got news of it even before it was on the news that there were some mischief makers, persons who were purposely misleading the people of this area, purposely using them rather than helping them, telling them a  bunch of lies. Apparently going so far as actually breaking down some homes or whatever it is. I have the messages here. Immediately when they told me I said but why would the owner of the properties do that. Actually it is a benefit with the arrangement for them to be here so the owners can secure their properties.”

“Are you saying that these people weren’t agents of Mr. Chang?”

“I have text messages are here. I asked Mr. Chang specifically, I called him and I asked him to please verify that you guys did not send anybody here to remove the homes. See the text messages here, to confirm such because to Mr. Chang, I said would you be willing to come in front of the media. He said that he does not have any interest to go in front of the media but I am willing to respond to you via text message to verify the fact that we did not send anybody here. Sp whosoever is the mischief maker, and I told everybody here that if someone comes to break down their home you call the police and let the police deal with them because they have no authority to do so. There is a process if someone wants to evict you. They need to go through a process. Outside of that it would be illegal for anyone to break down any home.  I told them to call them right away so that police can deal with them.”
