Hattieville Man Jailed for Alleged Rape of 15 year-old Girl

A twenty-one-year-old man was arraigned in court today for allegedly raping a fifteen-year-old school girl. Lawrence Jamie McNab, an unemployed man of Hattieville Village, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Emmerson Banner on a single charge of rape. No plea was taken because rape is an indictable offense. Although rape is bailable, Magistrate Banner took the victim’s age into consideration and denied bail. McNab was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April fourth.  The minor reported to police that around seven-thirty on the morning of Monday, January fourteenth, she was in the company of a man she knows and he took her to a house on the south side where they spent some time talking. The teenager said that the man later raped her.
